How can I earn money from home?

Ever asked yourself:”how can I earn money from home with my own business?”

Well, here there is no simple and common answer, as everyone has his own talents, mindset, skills, preferences, working patterns etc. It is now a few years back, when I asked myself how I can earn money from home, and I stared to look at various options and business models. Not many of these however would fit my personality or my values. And I was not willing to compromise on these essentials, so it took me quite some while to find my way. But as far as home business is concerned, there are a few important points that always apply.

how can I earn money from home

Important considerations before you can earn money from home

  1. Make a resolve: A home business is not a job. You have to take on responsibility and act self reliant.
  2. You need the wish to succeed. Often discouragement and frustration are taking over and only determination and discipline can bring you over such phases.
  3. You need the will to learn new skills. There is a learning curve.
  4. You will have to make ‘service to others’ your top priority.
  5. Get clear what you have to offer. What are your likes and dislikes, what are your strengths and weaknesses. Know thyself. It’s important to position yourself properly.
  6. Find a suitable idea and a business model that you want to apply. Is it network marketing, affiliate marketing, selling own products through e-commerce, or rendering a particular service to others…?
  7. Find a Niche which is not too competitive and not too narrow and focus on this market. learn everything about it and about your potential clients.
  8. Do some research for the most appropriate marketing strategy. Do you want to market off- or online or both. How do you want to go along? What are your goals, your budget…?
  9.

These are just a few important considerations. When you really wonder how can i earn money from home, then you have to do some thinking and some research, before you jump on the next best offer. Most people who start off in the home business industry get confused and overwhelmed, because they have no clear idea about their own profile. They start at the wrong end. Not everything is equally suitable for everyone.

5 Mistakes That Hinder Success

It’s quite simple to make money online. It really is. But it is not easy… Most people quit out of frustration, because they don’t ever get to the earnings, irrespective of their actions. Here are the 5 mistakes that hinder success in most cases:

1. Disbelief

Disbelief is one of the 5 mistakes that hinder success, as it is a very limiting pattern. You think: “this is too simple to be true” or “They are just after my money”. So you don’t act. You pass up a good chance instead of giving it a shot. Trial and error are far better for your advancement than doubting everything. Not that you should naively and wildly throw your hard earned money around (see further down), but when you have to make a choice, then don’t let disbelief prevent you from getting started.

2. Self Doubt

Self doubt is as limiting as disbelief. You are not sure, whether you can do it. You doubt that you will be able to apply yourself to a process, or to market successfully. You hesitate to enter a new field, because you think it is too complicated, that you are not clever enough, not strong enough, not convincing enough… Self doubt is is maybe the most difficult mistake to come by on the list of the 5 mistakes that hinder success, because you start breeding over eventualities and paralyze yourself.

3. Lack of Vision and Purpose

You need to find the true reason, why you need to be successful. If you just have the idea of making money, without a clear purpose, then you will find yourself losing interest at some point. Succeeding online takes a lot of consistent effort and without having the fire of a vision propelling you into the next task, you will probably start to look for more pleasurable activities than to get down to the nitty-gritty. Once the question “Why bother?” takes precedence over your urge, then you know that you have fallen prey to one of the 5 Mistakes that hinder success.

4. Lack of Commitment

Very similar to no. 3 above. But it is more related to the action that follows your vision. Vision is the fuel, Commitment is the engine. You have to find a certain routine and commit to it. You have to stick to your duties. The vision of moving into a beach house alone will not move you any closer to that beach. Your action will. Commit to your cause and to the required action.

5. Loss of Focus

Finally, one of the 5 mistakes that hinder success is the dissipation of your energy. Don’t try to cover too much in too little time or to juggle too many balls simultaneously. It’s advisable to narrow your focus on one particular issue and get this one done, before moving on to the next. Otherwise you will find yourself spread too thin all over the place. A very good method to prevent this from happening is to not down your pending tasks on a to do list. This can simply be a piece of paper, on which you tick your achievements, or you can use an online tool that you can access from your computer or your mobile device (I personally use the excellent tomorrow list that comes as part of my GlobalNPN membership).

the 5 Mistakes that hinder success can be avoided

How to avoid the 5 mistakes that hinder success

Look for a business model that appeals to you and do your due diligence. Don’t be distracted by the negativity of others, but don’t ignore any weak point neither. Take your time for research, don’t act on excitement alone and make an informed choice: If the opportunity appeals to you and if it looks solid enough, then decide to go for it.

Dont’t expect miracles, but more important, don’t let nagging self doubt hinder you from taking action. You can do it. If there is something you don’t know yet, then you can learn it. No one is born a master. Allow yourself to make mistakes (but not one of the 5 mistakes that hinder success from above) and learn from them.

Get clear about your underlying cause. Take some time daily to fantasize and dream. Paint a picture in you mind of your dream life. But don’t forget to return to reality and deal with the tasks at hand.

And finally get organized. Write down your tasks and establish some routine to complete them. Irrespective of the time you have available. The more time you have available, the bigger the risk you squander it. The less time you have at your disposal, the more you have to make good use of it. So in any case it is absolutely crucial to plan a bit.

I hope you can benefit from this short article and avoid the 5 mistakes that hinder success.

2012 Prediction For The Home Business Industry

Allow me to come up with a surprising 2012 prediction for the home business industry. I am not attaching any sort of claim to it and it may or may not come true. After all, I am no prophet, I just observe some trends and I wanted to state my observations here to fuel up a discussion and some enthusiasm for the home entrepreneurs of the coming times.

I don’t have great visions or lucid dreams, but when I sometimes look at certain situations I suddenly think: “No way, this cannot be true and must not be true…how is this going to work out in the future?!?” And then I start reflecting and suddenly recognize a solution to a given problem that I just couldn’t see before due to my own preoccupation with a flawed situation.

2012 Prediction for the Home Business Industry

Doom and Gloom or Boom for the Home Business Industry in 2012?

How to improve the home business industry?

It just happened again when I started to think about the online marketing arena and how the home business sector in its current condition could possibly offer a better alternative to those people who suffer job loss, money shortage or unsatisfying working conditions which they wish to leave behind. The ones who have been around in this “industry” for some while know what I am talking about. The entire internet marketing business is just such an nontransparent mess and newbies usually pay heavily for their inexperience before they finally quit overwhelmed and frustrated. The standard phrase “99% fail” then usually applies and brushes it all off without even raising the question why. In my 2012 prediction for the home business industry I want to dig a bit deeper and look for causes and offer one possible solution.

I feel there are still too many slick robber barons thriving on the gullibility of others and create a tremendous amount of suffering and anxiety. Just because something makes money for someone doesn’t justify the means. Newbies certainly don’t need to be sweet-talked into buying all kinds of stuff which they don’t have any immediate use for. They don’t need “dirt cheap” that they cannot market because they lack the basic skills of driving ample amounts of traffic, nor do they need being cajoled into the purchase of high ticket offers (which resembles selling a jet-plane to a pilot trainee). What they need are real and affordable common sense solutions that have a high demand and that easily convert. Newbies need simple nobrainers rather than 5-6-7-8-9… figure income fantasies to start with. They need easy, proven and imitable systems and appropriate associated training that allows them to generate an immediate cash-flow which pays for their immediate needs. Then they can get settled and take it from there.

My 2012 predictions for the home business industry foresees just one significant change in the industry that will make a huge difference for the ones who go with it: Commitment to the success of others – especially freshers. I foresee some sort of a mass realization that the entire industry really only thrives through and by the success of the ones joining afresh.

I am not an advocate for the lazy opportunists that believe something comes from nothing, but I quite frankly detest the common – and very arrogant – approach to label everyone who utters a complaint as a “whiner and complainer”, or to title everyone a ”tire-kicker”, just because they haven’t found their commitment or a suitable approach towards how to earn money from home yet. It’s easy to judge, while in reality they really are indicators of a systemic deficit.  After all we are all players in the same field and everybody wants just the same: to make an income. Simply that.

Personal Commitment

I don’t believe in survival of the fittest in this industry. The macchiavellian approach to economy is currently just proving itself a complete failure.  I have now been investing some time compiling my approach to helping others with what I learned from my own experiences starting up online, and I have come up with the following things that I can put on offer:

  1. a suite of outstanding and highly affordable products and services essential for any marketer to build a successful home business.
  2. a system that integrates these products and services and that converts and produces fast, lasting and ever increasing results for those who apply it.
  3. my personal commitment to help everyone who is sincere to build a business online and who is willing to learn and execute the things necessary to succeed.

I base my offer on my understanding that wealth creation is an affair that has to go beyond personal gain in order to produce lasting and sustainable results for everyone involved (read win/win). While I will not be in a position to hold everybody’s hand, I am dedicated to help and guide where and as I can and offer my commitment to those who take some reponsibility for their life and their actions.

My 2012 prediction for the home business industry is nothing new as such, as there are already many successful marketers applying these exact same and simple principles. But it’s implications will be revolutionary in the way that it will finally manifest as a broader realization, so that the overall failure rate will dramatically decrease and more joy and satisfaction will replace the current struggle and frustration.

I wish everyone a Happy and Prosperous New Year 2012!

Leadskimmer – What The Heck Is This?

Bet, you will hear the word “Leadskimmer” more and more often in the near future. Leadskimmer is almost like a disease – a viral disease, that can easily infect you with incurable list building success syndrome. Not only will the word about it spread virally, but it will also build your list in this way.

Leadskimmer: a novel system defining a new standard for funded proposals

Leadskimmer will lift the mark a notch for front-end marketing funnels. It is designed to produce 3 x as many leads 3 x as fast as any other method. And most probably it will help you to attain a by the factor 3 increased cash flow too. Just beware: once started, you won’t be able to stop the building process anymore due its viral nature – not even if you wanted to.

So you might think I write a nice little pitchy post here to catch your attention and get you hooked (pardon: skimmed)? Well, you got me! But you must also know why: My enthusiasm for Leadskimmer is not only based on it’s simple yet powerful concept, but for a good part also on the fact that it is the brainchild of Geoff Stephen who has been very consistent in the business for over 6 years with what I call the mother of all opportunities. Leadskimmer will be around for a long time to come, the service is well thought through and laid out, and support is guaranteed. Quite unlike all the flimsy “quick-rich-here-today-gone-tomorrow” schemes that pop up all over the internet on a daily basis, Leadskimmer is made to last.

When will you start using Leadskimmer for building your list the fast and easy way?

Time to build your List – with Leadskimmer

So if you are desperate to get your long overdue list building up on the next level, then give this one a shot. After all, it’s absolutely free to check it out and get all the info. You can keep it free forever or jump on the Premium version that offers a massive opportunity for accelerated cash-flow. There is no catch, but a few good arguments, why you should drop your defenses and get infected with this virus! At least you should give it a peek…

But then who knows, maybe it’s just not for you. Maybe you already get enough leads and good conversion and make a ton of money. Certainly, Leadskimmer is not the only way to build and monetize a list. But I just love things swift and simple and this might be an attractive solution for those who have been anxiously waiting for something easy, affordable and profitable.

And I dare to make a bold prediction for 2012: Although Leadskimmer launched silently – almost like a whisper in a snowy Christmas night – It will grow fast into a charismatic movement that cannot be silenced even by a hundred blown up over-hyped launches. Leadskimmer is not a quick shot from the hip. Remember, it’s the passion, labor, sweat, blood, the waking nights, the heart and the name of someone I’ve followed long enough to know with absolute certainty that he is landing another success – not only for himself, but for the community that he has been dedicated to for so many years.

That’s what moves me to post this at 5 am on a Christmas morning (don’t be misled by the date of the post – that’s the server-date and I type this from half way around the globe). Honestly I haven’t come across much that would thrill me enough to skip my holy sleep during a holy night for typing a post. But you better take a look at Leadskimmer yourself and check it out right away. It’s not the fancy looks – decoration doesn’t count – but once you see this funnel in action, then everything else might suddenly look just a tad complicated.

Online Marketing was yesterday – Online Earning is today

Online Earning WITHOUT SellingReally, I had enough. I was at the point where retreat was the only option. I was looking for a simple way to online earning, not for a career in pitching products to my fellow humans. I knew, I didn’t want to buy overpriced ebooks – why should I sell them to others?

Online Marketing? 6 Figures? Quick Money? No, dammit! I wanted to just earn some bucks to pay for my breakfast cereals while I was dedicating my time, my brain and my heart to some more compelling tasks, than to figure out how to sell stuff to the gullible.

Now, just to make sure you’re not getting the idea I loathe money. I don’t – and that’s why I started to explore online earning. But I’d rather see the figures in my pocket, than on some overstated sales copy. The carrot dangling from the stick just doesn’t make me run.

My motivation is born from curiosity. I am an explorer. An adventurer. I need the kick – but not in the butt. If I wanted to dedicate my life purpose to fantasize about big figures, I would have applied for a job with a bank or an insurance company.

Online Earning – just like… “make money online”?

Who makes money online anyway? Only the people who are ready to work for it. They don’t make it though, the earn it  (some steal it…).

I knew I will never make a dime, before I haven’t found my own angle. I wanted to deliver something of value in return for the earnings. I wanted to sell solutions – not products. But hey, that’s just me…

To make the long story short: I decided to not believe or participate in what did not appeal to my senses, but instead to explore and learn the online earning stuff. I wanted to find a clean clever way to earn money with my very own qualities.

And yes, I think I have found some answers along the way. It took me quite some while to translate my findings into an actionable plan and then to follow through on this plan.

It’s now, about a year after my first contact with the “make money online” scene that I am ready to start with online earning. No problem. After my initial disillusion I now feel stronger and more capable than ever before.

I have met many people along the way who experienced quite the opposite.

Inspiration vs. Desperation: Getting Rid Of Confusion

Starting an online business can be quite confusing. One is expecting inspiration and often experiences overwhelm instead. I myself run into quite a bit of a mind block when I started out. I believed it was easy, because a) I didn’t consider myself untalented and b) it sounded plausible on the various sales copy that I had studied. And then I run into the big confusion…

I was gladly investing my time and money to claim my place in the sun and I studied all and everything I could get hold of. Unfortunately this left me with more confusion than Inspiration. There were all these many possibilities, options, strategies, opportunities and methods that promised to make me rich…

growing confusion

Yet, as soon as I found something that seemed to make complete sense, something else popped up disturbing my belief and deviating me from my prior focus. I hopped from one to the other and back and couldn’t make up my mind, which of all the many options and possibilities would deserve my full attention and dedication. It was not only a questioin of prioritizing time, but also on what to spend my budget. As time and spending limits were running dangerously low, I became more and more desperate.

Now in retrospect, I understand, that all this confusion was a good lesson for me. Because I did not throw in the towel and swear on the entire industry (ok, I did swear, but not leave it at that), but instead I started to question and scrutinize every single bit of what I could grab related to online marketing, the common practice, the available advice and guidelines – and most importantly: I started to value my own hunches amidst this entire ‘earning money online’ thing.

If I had listened to all the advice and tried to implement it all, then a lifetime would not have been enough for me to get my act together. I initially tried to do as much as I possibly could, but I was finally quite ashamed to look at my progress and at my own blog that looked like a piece-de-resistance against all the shoulds and dos and donts that I had accumulated in the grey matter of my small confused neocortex.

It felt very relieved after I finally decided to pause and not read any promotional emails, not attend any webinars and calls, not write any posts, not send any friend requests and tweets anymore and to leave my credit card in the wallet. Suddenly I had time to reflect. I gave up the many concepts and voices that would not really contribute to further my cause, I knew that there is – must be – a simple way to make it online and to enjoy the freedom that comes along with it. Without all the confusion! Finally there were at least some people out there, that seemed to be doing just fine…

Freeing the brain from confusion frees time and fosters inspiration

You can not be inspired, when you are stuck under a truckload of concepts – you can hardly breathe. And I had a quite sudden realization, that all this advice that is given to make me successful was actually preventing me from having success. Not because it was all bad advice, but because it kept me completely absorbed in other people’s concepts.

You need to be able to sit back, relax and think. Blind action (especially the ‘massive’ kind) is not only undermining the intuition, but it also doesn’t leave room for thought. I felt a deep disagreement with and skepticism towards people who told me NOT to think, not to question, and not to reinvent the wheel…, but instead to just just blindly adopt and emulate (imitate) the strategies of “the successful”. I felt I lack some critical insight into the fundamentals, if I just followed a set of predefined rules.

There always was that confusing conflict between “what am I expected to belief and do – and what is it that I really want”? For example I found that I didn’t really give a damn about becoming “the next successful 6-7 figure income earner”! I simply just wanted to earn enough to pay the bills and enjoy my free time! I found myself being systematically pitched and programmed to crave some distant dream, so I would opt-in for the next big thing, buy the next “strategy revealed”. Yet I still had no clue and no concept as how to initiate my ‘massive action’ and what to aim it at.

So, what I can state with certainty, substantiated through some own life experience, observation and after an extended period of reflection and experimenting, is the following:

Massive action only bears fruit when initiated from a state of relative detachment. To make action effective it takes a confusion free mind and some inspiration. You need to have a clear idea, what you want, how you want it and how you are going to go about it. You need to align what you want with what others want. It’s a bit tricky to negotiate at times, but it’s a worthwhile growth process.

The single most important factor to success online

I just came across a post on the characteristics of successful people. I completely agreed that they share certain traits, but totally disagreed, that those traits are really essential to be successful. There is really only one critical factor to success online…

Apart from choosing the right type of business and bringing certain skills into it, the most important trait is determination. Simply follow through. Don’t get quick results? go ahead! Get now response, low response or negative response? Keep it up! Lack motivation and insight? Take a break, but do come back to it! If you want success online, then follow through!

Follow through doesn’t mean to stick to a predefined path, pushing ahead with a stupid idea or a scheme that is doomed to fail, because it suffers intrinsic flaws.

What I mean is: Follow through on your determination to get success online. Adjust, tweak, alter – don’t leave a single stone unturned. Be determined to reach your goal. You might have to deviate from your original plan at certain points, but take the extra mile in your stride.

Just don’t give up! If you want success online, make this your resolve and STICK TO IT! (excuse the shouting). Learn, mature, become more experienced and wise. Gather knowledge and try various approaches. Do what suits you and matches your personality, don’t even try to fiddle with your personality in order to become successful – you are you, and if you find out, that something has to give in or take shape, it will on it’s own accord.

Be original and push for your success online!

Make your cause YOUR cause. YOU want to succeed, play hard and don’t listen to all those that tell you how, what, when, where, why. These are the questions you will have to answer yourself.

Just follow through. Stick to your course. If this takes ‘massive action’, deliver. if this takes ‘quiet reflection’, take the time. Take responsibility and take ownership. It’s about YOUR success online… If it’s not not YOUR way, YOUR aim, YOUR business, then you will lose interest very soon and throw in the towel.

So before starting anything at all, just think for a moment, whether this is really what you want to do, whether you want to live with the ‘consequences’ and if you are determined to bring your success online about.

There are only two options: Fruition or frustration – you decide…

Prospecting Online – just a Number’s Game?

Fishing with a trawl net will bring in a catch. And from the catch only a certain percentage will make it to the table. The rest is cat food. It’s not very different with prospecting online…

prospecting online resembles trawl fishing

"What's the catch?..."

Trawling the net will return something for the effort. The conversion rate indicates how many ‘edible ones’ were among the ‘catch’. But what about the rest – the opt ins that didn’t buy?

Unfortunately Marketing Funnels don’t convert all leads into a concentrate of high value customers on the lower end. A good funnel is designed to do some pre-selection and separate cat food from delicacy (just to remain with the analogy of trawling for fish).

Prospecting Online Values The Entire Catch

It’s a mistake to go only for the fat ones and dispose of the rest. Not everyone is fit for the fine dining – but that does not mean the rest is waste. A good funnel offers something for everyone and aims at the optimum (not maximum) conversion from prospecting online efforts. Unfortunately some marketers don’t grade and instead apply pressure tactics (pushing people’s buttons…), to stuff everyone into the same tin. But because people just like fish have delicate features they start to feel aching remorse. Remorse leads to attrition or canceled sales – it stinks.

(The same marketers then usually complain about he lazy tire-kickers and about the ones impertinent enough to actually claim their money back guarantee…)

Business is not just sales numbers – it is culture, relationships and emotions too. The entrepreneurial spirit is greatly enlivened and cancellations are greatly reduced, when prospecting online is understood as a people’s play, instead of a number’s game.
The following numbers try to illustrate it:

case 1:
500
leads, 0.8% conversion, 25% attrition (disappointed, never to return) = 3 left

case 2:
5
prospects leading to 4 transactions, 0 returns = 4 happy, recommending, repeating (+ 1 on the list who might be joining later)

  • Conclusion I: the human factor is again gaining importance in online marketing, at least if the idea is to build a sustainable business.
  • Conclusion II: There is often too much emphasis on ‘traffic’ and ‘conversion’ and too little on cultivating relations.
  • Conclusion III: Marketing ethics, goodness of products and quality of after sales service have never lost their importance in building a successful business.

(Tip: Value the opt-ins that have not converted instantly and try to find out about their real needs. You might be able to win them over as happy customers).

Is Social Media Marketing Really Social?

If you’re on twitter or facebook or on any other of the many other social media platforms for reasons of finding prospects through social media marketing, you might have asked yourself sometimes, if this is really it: a place where everyone shares his views, drools over his credited ‘likes’ and endures the spamming of others on his wall.

Where has the ‘social’ aspect of social media marketing gone? These networks may allow to be quite casual, but the definition of ‘social’ implies more – it carries a notion of sharing something. Not sharing like on the ‘share’ button, but sharing like having a common denominator, a common interest or something that interconnects. It implies a dialogue.

Sure one can have a dialogue – it’s a personal decision to use social media marketing as a means to stay connected and to bond with the people that are labeled as ‘followers’ or ‘friends’. It is however something that seems to have gone totally missing in the online marketing scene, where ‘friends’ and ‘followers’ have been equated with “idiots waiting to buy my stuff”.

Social media marketing for lead generation!

How far have we come to believe that people on twitter or facebook have chosen to be there to suffer a fusillade of uninspiring advertising slogans. Whether we call it social media marketing or not… believe me, if they wanted commercials all over the screen, they would have chosen to stay in front of the TV.

Online marketing has had a sudden surge on the networks and it’s dying there equally fast. Only some uninformed still remain and send short-link camouflaged pitch to others in the hope that somebody stupid enough will click on them. And the brightest of the dull minded even try to direct message their unsolicited junk, assuming it was a bright approach to social media marketing.

social media marketing is NOT pitching products!

Yes, I believe that social media can be a great tool for lead generation. It can be a very opportune place to find fresh interesting contacts and to build relationships. That’s finally how networks build. But to disseminate worthless publicity to people that have not even asked for it under the flag of social media marketing, is like declaring everyone in the vicinity for a retard.

No wonder the so called ‘online marketers’ are now depressed because ‘social media marketing doesn’t work’. But it simply ‘doesn’t work’, because they lack the soft skills. Nobody has taught them. Online marketers are being sent on a mission to pitch products and bring in returns. They are often quite unaware, that their target is a human being.

Building a business through social media marketing means being human, interacting with humans and cultivating human relationships. It’s got a lot to do with respect and with listening. Then it also means to strive for a win/win situation, where everyone gains and nobody looses. And finally it has something to do with appreciation, when the other one finally shows readiness to listen to a proposal.
